75TH ANNIVERSARY BATTLE OF THE CORAL SEA COMMEMORATIVE DINNER

On the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea, the American Australian Association in conjunction with the Australian Embassy and Northrop Grumman Corporation, hosted a Commemorative Dinner honoring surviving veterans from the battle. The dinner also served as the backdrop to the first official meeting between the President of the United States and Prime Minister of Australia.

RECEPTION FOR BATTLE OF THE CORAL SEA VETERANS

On Friday, May 5, 2017, guests joined the American Australian Association and Qantas at the Australian Consulate-General in New York City to celebrate the brave American and Australian heroes who as teenagers fought 75 years ago at the Battle of the Coral Sea. The reception continued a week of commemorative activities in New York focusing on the 75th Anniversary of this pivotal battle.

     
 

PRESIDENT AND PRIME MINISTER MEET ABOARD INTREPID

Immediately prior to the Coral Sea Commemorative Dinner on May 4th, President Trump and Prime Minister Turnbull met aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum for their first official bilateral. See official meeting transcript here.
 
ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER
OCTOBER 24, 2017


Each year, the Association holds a Benefit Dinner to recognize important American-Australian business relations and to celebrate the scholars of our Education Fund. Proceeds from the Benefit Dinner support the Education Fund, which to date has awarded more than 300 Fellows over US$7 million in grants to pursue advanced studies in fields such as medical research and sustainability.

NEW VETERANS' SCHOLARSHIP FUND LAUNCHED

With support from Northrop Grumman Corporation, the Association's new American – Australian Veterans’ Scholarship Fund (VSF) was launched from the $2.5 million raised at the 75th Anniversary Battle of the Coral Sea Commemorative Dinner on May 4th, 2017.

The VSF will further develop and cement the close and cooperative relationship that exists between our troops and military organizations.
