Instructions & Guidelines

The Nomad Two Worlds Foundation Indigenous Arts Scholarship offers $20,000 scholarships to emerging Indigenous Australian or Torres Strait Islander and Native American, Alaskan Native and Native Hawaiian Artists to pursue artistic development in each other's countries respectively. Before you submit an application, please ensure you read all the instructions and eligibility requirements.
The standard of our applicants is very high and we are not able to fund all applicants. Please note that you may not apply for the same course or project more than once.

For the purpose of these guidelines, all applicants will be referred to as ‘the artist’.

Applying for a grant

All applicants are required to complete the online Application Form (available when open). You will be required to set up a site account. Within your account you can save, leave and go back to your application anytime before submitting by the due date. Please be aware you will be required to upload supporting documents to this online form, as listed below.

You will be notified of the results of your application by email approximately 8 weeks after the deadline, at which time successful applicants will receive further instruction.

Submission Period 2019

Scholarships from the Fund are reviewed on a three-round basis by the Association's staff in consultation with the Cultural Committee. 

Applications are due at midnight Eastern Standard time (New York time) unless the scholarship is open year-round. Please note that the Application Form will only be available from the Application Open date for each round. Applicants are notified of the outcome of their application approximately 8 weeks after the submission deadline.


 Required supporting documents

All applicants are required to include the following supporting materials to their application:

1. Artist Statement: please outline your purpose for applying to the Nomad Two Worlds Foundation Indigenous Arts Scholarship (no more than 600 words). The essay should cover: 

-the goals and objectives of your artistic development;
-the importance of this artistic development to your field or artistic expertise; 
-why travel to the United States/Australia is important for this artistic development;
-how you will accomplish it in the time period for which the funding has been requested. 

2. Supporting material: any videos, links, articles, essays or images you think will support your application. 

3. budget outlining costs for the proposal, detailing other funding sources. Please provide confirmation letters of any confirmed pledges from other funding sources.
4. letter of confirmation from the educational organization or nominated host body/ mentor (where a formal program of study, internship or mentorship is being/will be undertaken).

5. Proof of citizenship/residency status (scanned photo page of your passport)


6. Confirmation of Identity - Verification of being Indigenous Australian, Torres Strait Islander or Native American, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian

 Three professional references (link to submit confidential referee requests are on the application form).
