On Thursday, October 12, the American Australian Association partnered with Citi to host Australian Treasurer the Hon. Scott Morrison for a Lunch and Keynote Address at the Citi offices in Tribeca. The Treasurer’s speech centered around the recent gains made by the Australian economy, presenting an informative outlook that highlighted the mutually beneficial economic partnership between the US and Australia. Thank you to the Treasurer and his staff for a great presentation, to Citi for hosting the event, and to all those in attendance!

AAA - GSMF Fellow Inaugural Policy Forum

On Monday, June 5, the American Australian Association in partnership with General Sir John Monash Foundation hosted the AAA-GSJMF Inaugural Policy Forum on “Resource Development and Society.” On the panel were AAA Fellows Ryan Edwards, Matthew Herington and Alexander Smith and GSJMF Scholars Jacqui Baker, Tom Hanna, Alexa Morcombe and Huw Pohlner. The experts presented and discussed with our audiences in New York, Perth and online (via video-link and Facebook) their unique perspective on how their areas of work and study contribute to the larger conversation on resource development and society in Australia, America and the world at large.

75th Anniversary Battle of the Coral Sea Commemorative Dinner

On Thursday, May 4, 2017 the American Australian Association in conjunction with the Australian Embassy and Northrop Grumman Corporation, hosted a Commemorative Dinner in honor of the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea. The dinner also served as the backdrop to the first official meeting between the President of the United States and Prime Minister of Australia.

On Wednesday, April 19, AAA President Amb. John Berry (Ret’d) and Australian Ambassador Joe Hockey joined members of the AAA board and Australian and American business executives at Aretsky’s Patroon in New York for a lunch and discussion with the Australian Minister of Finance, Senator the Hon Mathias Cormann.

On Wednesday, March 17, around 50 guests joined the American Australian Association at ANZ Bank for a lunch and keynote address with the CEO of the Perth USAsia Center, Professor Gordon Flake.

Professor Flake’s address, “APEX Australia: Leveraging Influence in Asia, Australia’s Emergence as an Energy Superpower,” discussed Australia’s growing presence on the global economic stage and discussed many of the complexities of the US – Australian economic relationship.

On Tuesday, January 31st, the American Australian Association held its Australia Day Dinner at The Langham’s Wilson Ballroom in Boston. Meredith Goldstein, Reporter for the Boston Globe, handled the MC duties, while AAA President, Amb. John Berry (Ret’d) delivered the keynote address.

On Monday, January 23, the American Australian Association, together with Citi and G’Day USA, hosted the Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism, and Investment, the Hon Steven Ciobo MP at a lunch in New York. As the keynote speaker, Ciobo delivered a speech titled ‘The Importance of Australia for US Companies to Asia,’ in which he explained the crucial role Australian companies are playing in allowing US businesses to successfully pivot to Asian markets.

On Wednesday, October 5, the American Australian Association, together with Citi, hosted Australian Treasurer, the Hon Scott Morrison MP at a lunch in New York. Speaking to an audience of 150 business leaders, investors, and members of the media at the Citi Center, Morrison highlighted the benefits of investing in an economy that “has just completed 25 years of uninterrupted annual economic growth.” His speech, titled ‘Australia: The Upside Economy in a Post-Crisis World,’ also emphasized several of the Australian Government’s economic goals, including its commitment to the NAFTA and TPP trade deals.

The American Australian Association & J.P. Morgan Chase& Co hosted a Reception and Private Dinner for The Hon Malcolm Turnbull and Ms. Lucy Hughes Turnbull on Sunday, September 18th in New York. The Prime Minister emphasized innovation and free trade as economic imperatives; and used the opportunity to push the United States government to ratify the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement

The American Australian Association, in conjunction with Morgan Stanley, hosted 80 of our corporate members and their invited guests at a special lunch to welcome Australia's Ambassador to the United States, H.E. the Hon. Joe Hockey, in New York. 
Ambassador Hockey spoke about the depth of US and Australian defense and intelligence cooperation; and other topical subjects, including the upcoming US and Australian elections, US engagement in Asia, and the importance of the Trans Pacific Partnership for Australia and America.

The Premier of Victoria, The Hon Daniel Andrews, MP, visited New York as part of an official visit to the United States. He made a lunchtime address to members of New York's financial community about his Government's infrastructure agenda. With numerous American Australian Association members in attendance, the Premier outlined how the Victorian Government is investing in productivity-enhancing infrastructure to enable the state to take full advantage of its growth potential.
