The Hon. Kevin Rudd to speak at 2015 Annual Spring Lecture Lunch

Each year the Association hosts an Annual Lecture Lunch which features a prominent American or Australian guest speaker discussing topical global affairs or business issues of interest to our members. Previous guest speakers have included Australian Ambassador Kim Beazley; Robert Thomson, then Managing Editor of the Wall Street Journal; and James Gorman, Chairman & CEO Morgan Stanley amongst many others

This year we are pleased to be joined by The Hon. Kevin Rudd, Inaugural President, the Asia Society Policy Institute and Australia’s 26th Prime Minister. Mr. Rudd will be speaking on Alternative Futures for US-China Relations at the lunch, hosted by J.P.Morgan Chase & Co. Register now.

The American Australian Association commemorates ANZAC Day

Saturday, April 25th marked the ANZAC Centenary, a time to remember and honor the ANZACs who served at Gallipoli and the Western Front, as well as all past and present Australian servicemen and women. The American Australian Association commemorated this very special occasion by participating in the Dawn Service, where Board Member Sara McKerihan laid a wreath on behalf of the Association at the Vietnam Veterans Plaza in New York.

Over $3,000 raised for Mates4Mates

With the help of a number of committed volunteers, the Association sold commemorative poppies at ANZAC events held in New York and Los Angeles, to raise over $3,000 for the Australian charity Mates4Mates. A number of local venues including The Australian NYC, Burke & Wills, Bluestone Lane Coffee, The Liberty NYC and Flinders Lane NYC assisted our fundraising efforts. Thank you to all who contributed to the fundraising effort!

Susan Talbot OAM in Memoriam

On behalf of the Association, I would like to express my condolences to the family and friends of Susan Talbot OAM who passed away in April. Susan served on the Board of the American Australian Association and was President of the American Friends of the National Gallery of Australia. Susan and her work, particularly as curator of Short Film Today, an annual event that has screened in New York since 1992, will be fondly remembered by many.

Frances Cassidy, President
